About Coakleys
Coakleys is a London, Ontario workshop offering expert shoe & boot repair, handbag and leather care, key cutting, sharpening, and more. Our goal is simple: craftsmanship for everyone—in store and online.
Our Commitment
We are committed to providing a website and digital experiences that are accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. We aim to conform to:
-
WCAG 2.1 Level AA (and we are progressively aligning with WCAG 2.2 Level AA),
-
The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and its Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR),
-
Applicable provisions of the Ontario Human Rights Code, and, where relevant, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) effective communication requirements for U.S. customers.
What We’re Doing
-
Standards & Design: We use semantic HTML, proper headings, labels, alt text, color-contrast targets, focus states, and keyboard operability.
-
Ongoing Testing: We perform periodic audits combining automated checks and manual review with screen readers and keyboard-only navigation.
-
Remediation & Monitoring: Identified issues are prioritized and fixed as part of our continuous improvement cycle.
-
Content Practices: We write plain-language content where possible and provide descriptive link text and captions for key visuals.
-
Training: Team members who publish or maintain content receive guidance on accessible authoring.
Assistive Technology Compatibility
Our site is designed to work with current versions of major browsers (Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox) and to be compatible with common assistive technologies (e.g., screen readers, magnifiers, voice control) on desktop and mobile.
For best results, keep your browser, OS, and assistive tech up to date.
Known Limitations
While we strive for full compliance, you may encounter legacy images or PDFs without full text alternatives, or third-party widgets outside of our direct control. When such issues are identified, we work with vendors or provide accessible alternatives on request.
Alternative Formats & Communication Support
On request, we will provide our content and customer communications in accessible formats or with communication supports (e.g., large print, plain-text PDFs, read-aloud support), in a timely manner and at no additional cost, as required by AODA/IASR. Please tell us your preferred format.
Feedback & Assistance
We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of our website and services. If you encounter any barriers—or need an alternate format—please contact us:
