Size Guide
At Coakleys, we work with premium footwear brands such as Loake, Red Wing, Boulet, and others — many of which use UK sizing standards. To help you find your perfect fit, please review the guide below before ordering or bringing your shoes in for repair.
Understanding Shoe Sizing
Most English-made shoes and boots (including Loake and other Goodyear-welted brands) are graded in UK sizes.
Some European or lifestyle collections may use Continental (EU) sizing.
Use the chart below to convert between UK, US, and EU shoe sizes.
| UK Size | US Size | EU Size |
|---|---|---|
| 6 | 7 | 40 |
| 7 | 8 | 41 |
| 8 | 9 | 42 |
| 9 | 10 | 43 |
| 10 | 11 | 44 |
| 11 | 12 | 45 |
| 12 | 13 | 46 |
Note: UK sizes are typically one full size smaller than US sizes.
For example, a UK 9 roughly equals a US 10.
Width Fittings
English-made men’s shoes are traditionally offered in four main width fittings:
| Fitting | Description |
|---|---|
| E | Narrow fit |
| F | Regular (standard) fit |
| G | Wide fit |
| H | Extra wide fit |
Between fittings in the same size, there is approximately ¼ inch difference in girth (circumference).
Fittings with an “X” suffix (for example FX) are halfway between two sizes — in this case, between F and G.
General Fit Guidance
-
The majority of our shoes are made in F fitting, which suits most customers.
-
G fitting shoes are available for those who prefer a slightly roomier fit.
-
For extra-wide feet or orthotic inserts, H fitting may provide better comfort.
-
When buying Goodyear-welted shoes, remember they may feel snug initially and then mold comfortably to your feet after a few wears.
